Overview

The Master of Applied Economics is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of theoretical and applied economics. The degree is based on training in core areas of economics and optional specialised courses. The program emphasises knowledge of analytical techniques and the ability to apply them in new contexts, providing the training required of a professional economist. 

The Master of Applied Economics is an AQF Level 9 Masters qualification with a standard full-time duration of 1.5 years.

Academic Program Rules for Master of Applied Economics

There shall be a Master of Applied Economics.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the degree of Master of Applied Economics, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 36 units, comprising:

  1. Core courses to the value of 3 units
  2. Elective courses to the value of 27 units
  3. Research equivalent courses to the value of 6 units may be included (as an elective) in the form of a research dissertation
  4. Research equivalent courses to the value of 6 units in the form of a research capstone

  • Core Courses

    To satisfy the requirements for Core Courses students must complete courses to the value of 3 units.
