Overview

The Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences (Advanced) is designed for high-achieving students who wish to develop their knowledge and understanding in areas of health and medical sciences. In addition to general foundation studies in a broad range of areas in the Health and Medical Sciences, students specialise in one particular area of study as they progress through the degree. Unique to this program are courses which will develop skills for professional engagement, as well as fostering initiative and leadership skills.
Students will participate in a specially designed cohort experience including academic and career mentoring, journal club and attendance at specialist seminars and workshops focused on their area of specialisation.
The Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences (Advanced) is an AQF Level 7 qualification with a standard full-time duration of three years.
 

Conditions

Condition of Enrolment

Students enrolled in this program must maintain a GPA of 5.0 or will be required to transfer to the Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences.

 

Academic Program Rules for Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences (Advanced)

There shall be a Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences (Advanced).

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the degree of Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences (Advanced), the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following courses with a combined total of not less than 72 units, comprising:
 

  1. Level I courses to the value of no more than 30 units, of which at least 12 units are Health Science courses, and which may include the Core courses and Closed electives
  2. Level II Health Science courses to the value of at least 12 units, which may include the Core courses and Closed electives
  3. Level III Health Science courses to the value of at least 24 units, which may include the Core courses and Closed electives
  4. Core courses to the value of 9 units
  5. One major from the following:
    1. Addiction and Mental Health (27 units)
    2. Clinical Trials (27 units)
    3. Medical Sciences (27 units)
    4. Neurosciences (27 units)
    5. Nutritional Health (27 units)
    6. Public Health (27 units)
    7. Reproductive and Childhood Health (27 units)
  6. Broadening Electives to the value of 9 units
  7. Additional elective courses to complete a total of 72 units for the program, which may include Closed and Open electives.
