Overview

The Master of Advanced Economics program is for students with a strong background in economics and quantitative skills. It provides advanced studies in the core subjects of the field, offers electives in a number of economics subjects and introduces students to academic research through a minor research project and a substantial dissertation. It also offers a sound preparation for research-based programs such as the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or the Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) in Economics.

The Master of Advanced Economics is an AQF Level 9 Masters Extension qualification with a standard full-time duration of 1.5 years.

2. Qualification Requirements

2.1 Academic Program

To qualify for the degree of Master of Advanced Economics, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 36 units:

  1. Core courses to the value of 12 units, including a research equivalent course to the value of 3 units in the form of a minor research project.
  2. Electives to the value of 12 units
  3. Research equivalent courses to the value of 12 units in the form of a research dissertation.
