Overview
The Master of Education is designed for educators who wish to strengthen curriculum development, teaching areas, discipline study areas or develop areas of education such as educational leadership. It is also suitable for trainers, educational consultants or any domestic or international student wishing to study Education to teach in a higher education environment or develop their research capacity to transition into educational research.
The Master of Education is an AQF Level 9 Masters Extension qualification with a standard full-time duration of 2 years.
Academic Program Rules for Master of Education
There shall be a Master of Education.
Qualification Requirements
To qualify for the degree of Master of Education, students must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 48 units, comprising:
1. Core courses to the value of 27 units
2. Specialisation courses to the value of 12 units
3. Elective courses to the value of 9 units
(Students who have successfully completed a qualification which allows them to register as a teacher in Australia at AQF Level 7 or higher and who have subsequently completed two years of teaching practice may be granted up to 24 units of Advanced Standing.)

To satisfy the requirements for Core Courses students must complete courses to the value of 27 units.
All of the following courses must be completed:
* Students who plan to undertake a PhD on completion of their MEd will present the 12-unit project EDUC 7033 Education Dissertation in lieu of EDUC 7031 Education Major Project.
