Overview

The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry is a postgraduate coursework (Masters Extended) program available to both local and international students. The program prepares qualified dentists for specialist dental practice in the disciplines of:

  • Endodontics
  • Oral Pathology
  • Orthodontics
  • Paediatric Dentistry
  • Periodontics
  • Prosthodontics
  • Special Needs Dentistry.
The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry is an AQF Level 9 (Masters Extended) qualification with a standard full-time duration of 3 years.

Academic Program Rules for Doctor of Clinical Dentistry

There shall be a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the degree of Doctor of Clinical Dentistry the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 72 units, comprising:

  1. Core courses to the value of 6 units
  2. Research in the form of a research dissertation
  3. One specialisation to the value of 66 units from the following:
    • Endodontics
    • Oral Pathology
    • Orthodontics
    • Paediatric Dentistry
    • Periodontics
    • Prosthodontics
    • Special Needs Dentistry

Core Courses

  • Core Courses

    To satisfy the requirements for Core Courses students must complete courses to the value of 6 units.

    All of the following courses must be completed:

  • Research Dissertation

    To satisfy the requirements for Research Dissertation students must adhere to the following:

    Students must complete a research dissertation of not longer than 40,000 words. The time to undertake the research and prepare the dissertation is allocated within the core courses at Year 1 and the equivalent of 3 units embedded in each of the specialist clinical courses at Year 2 and Year 3.
