Overview

The Associate Degree in Construction Management is a program of study which students undertake to develop project management skills with a focus on the application of technology in construction. The program is designed and structured to provide career and management ready graduates for the construction and infrastructure industries.

Students will acquire a sound foundation of knowledge in civil construction, Building Information Modelling (BIM) and engineering construction management. The program offers a compact structure which covers essential knowledge and skills in construction, project management and BIM with a strong focus of applying technology in construction and management techniques specific to the construction industry.

The Associate Degree in Construction Management is an AQF Level 6 qualification with a standard full-time duration of 2 years.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate an application-based understanding of the construction industry and associated project management.
  2. Use engineering technology methods, tools and processes, complemented by relevant knowledge from related disciplines, and the ability to integrate current advancements, within real-world contexts to manage the interface between design and construction processes for projects.
  3. Use critical thinking to make sound judgements based on evidence, theory and logical reasoning.
  4. Adopt professional and ethical attitudes, standards and values.
  5. Use effective interpersonal skills to enable empathetic and effective communication with a range of audiences.

Conditions

Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Faculty before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

Program Maximum Duration: As specified in Table 1 of the Coursework Academic Programs Policy, this program must be completed within a Maximum Duration which includes any periods of non-enrolment, leave of absence or approved study at other institutions for credit towards a Program.
 

Academic Program Rules for Associate Degree in Construction Management

There shall be a Associate Degree in Construction Management.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the degree of Associate Degree in Construction Management, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 48 units, comprising:

  1. Level I core courses to a maximum of 24 units
  2. Level II core courses to a maximum of 24 units
