Overview

The Graduate Diploma in Economics and Resource Policy is designed to provide comprehensive understanding of economic concepts to graduates of various disciplines. Students will have the opportunity to apply economic principles across various domains including public policy, international trade, agribusiness and natural resources. 

The Graduate Diploma in Economics and Resource Policy is an AQF Level 8 qualification with a standard full-time duration of 1 year. 

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Apply concepts, theories and principles to identify and address economic problems.
  2. Demonstrate relevant knowledge and application of methodologies and skills to inform economic decision-making.
  3. Analyse current economic issues and trends and investigate possible solutions.
  4. Communicate in a professional manner, both in writing and orally, to specialists and non-specialist audiences on economic matters.

Conditions

Program Maximum Duration: As specified in Table 1 of the Coursework Academic Programs Policy, this program must be completed within a Maximum Duration which includes any periods of non-enrolment, leave of absence or approved study at other institutions for credit towards a Program. 

Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Faculty before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time. 

Academic Program Rules for Graduate Diploma in Economics and Resource Policy

There shall be a Graduate Diploma in Economics and Resource Policy.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the Graduate Diploma in Economics and Resource Policy, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following courses with a combined total of not less than 24 units, comprising: 

Core courses to the value of 12 units 

Elective courses to the value of 12 units
