Overview
The Graduate Certificate in Radiation Management aims to deliver tertiary-qualified graduates with the competence to supervise and manage radiation safety in mining, industrial radiography, security or scientific industries. Graduates are trained to ensure that radiation work is carried out safely and in accordance with national and international requirements.
The Graduate Certificate in Radiation Management is an AQF Level 8 qualification with a standard full-time duration of 0.5 years.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate mastery of theoretical and practical aspects of physics, and its application to the professional practice of radiation safety and management.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply appropriate technologies competently and safely to meet regulatory requirements in a range of contexts.
- Analyse, critically evaluate and synthesise quantitative/qualitative data relating to radiation safety and management.
- Communicate effectively in a variety of modes, to diverse audiences, for a range of purposes as appropriate for a professional with responsibilities related to radiation safety and management.
Conditions
Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Executive Dean or delegate before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.
Program Maximum Duration: As specified in Table 1 of the Coursework Academic Programs Policy, this program must be completed within a Maximum Duration which includes any periods of non-enrolment, leave of absence or approved study at other institutions for credit towards a Program.
Academic Program Rules for Graduate Certificate in Radiation Management
There shall be a Graduate Certificate in Radiation Management.
Qualification Requirements
To qualify for the degree of Graduate Certificate in Radiation Management, the candidate must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 12 units, comprising:
