Overview
The Graduate Diploma in Cyber Security [Online] will provide graduates with the knowledge and skills to apply Cyber Security principles and understand relevant governance, legal and policy considerations. It provides advanced standing to further learning in the Master of Cyber Security.
The Graduate Diploma in Cyber Security [Online] is an AQF Level 8 qualification with a standard full-time duration of 1 year. However, this program is only offered part-time for a duration of 1.3 years.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the technical practice, management and policy implications of Cyber Security, and its application within industry contexts.
- Apply and use the principles of Cyber Security within real-world contexts.
- Seek, analyse and evaluate data, materials and technology to construct professional advice relating to the technical practice, management and policy of Cyber Security.
- Adopt and employ professional attitudes, standards and values.
- Use effective interpersonal skills to enable empathetic and effective communication with a range of audiences.
Conditions
Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Faculty before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.
Program Maximum Duration: As specified in Table 1 of the Coursework Academic Programs Policy, this program must be completed within a Maximum Duration which includes any periods of non-enrolment, leave of absence or approved study at other institutions for credit towards a Program.

Qualification Requirements
To qualify for the degree of Graduate Diploma in Cyber Security [Online] the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following courses with a combined total of not less than 24 units, comprising.
- Core Courses to the value of 24 units
- Students without a programming background are required to take COMP SCI 7210OL Foundations of Computer Science - Python A in lieu of POLIS 7024OL Political Institutions and Policy-Making
