Overview
The Master of Construction Management is designed to prepare students for professional practice in building and infrastructure. The program has a strong foundation in building and infrastructure across various life cycles such as feasibility, design, construction, operation and disposal. Students will develop strong presentation skills, negotiation and inter-personal skills.
The Master of Construction Management is an AQF Level 9 qualification with a standard full-time duration of 2 years.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Apply advanced and integrated construction management theories, principles, concepts and skills related to the management of construction and civil projects throughout their life cycles.
- Investigate, analyse and synthesise complex information to manage traditional and emerging aspects of construction and civil projects.
- Apply research principles and skills to conduct independent research related to both traditional and emerging aspects of construction and civil projects.
- Apply principles of teamwork and collaboration to construction and civil projects.
- Communicate in a professional, ethical and culturally sensitive manner, using effective written, verbal, and visual expression methods suitable for various stakeholders for construction and civil projects.
Conditions
Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Executive Dean or delegate before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.
Program Maximum Duration: As specified in Table 1 of the Coursework Academic Programs Policy, this program must be completed within a Maximum Duration which includes any periods of non-enrolment, leave of absence or approved study at other institutions for credit towards a Program.
Academic Program Rules for Master of Construction Management
There shall be a Master of Construction Management.
Qualification Requirements
To qualify for the degree of Master of Construction Management, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 48 units, comprising:
- Core courses to the value of 33 units.
- Research Dissertation courses to the value of 6 or 12 units.
- Elective courses to the value of 3 or 9 units depending on the Research Dissertation option studied

To satisfy the requirements for the research dissertation students must complete either Option 1 or Option 2.
