Overview

The combined Master of Laws / Master of Commerce program enables students to undertake a specialisation in: Accounting, Applied Finance or Marketing while also focusing on business, commercial regulation and international law. Applicants must hold an undergraduate Law degree.
The Master of Laws / Master of Commerce is an AQF Level 9 Masters Extension qualification with a standard full-time duration of 2 years.

Academic Program Rules for Master of Laws / Master of Commerce

There shall be a Master of Laws / Master of Commerce.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the combined degree of Master of Laws / Master of Commerce, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 48 units, comprising:

  1. Core courses to the value of 12 units
  2. Elective courses to the value of 30 units, consisting of Law Electives to the value of 12 units and Commerce Electives to the value of 18 units
  3. Research equivalent courses to the value of 6 units in the form of a research dissertation or two research essays.

  • Research Dissertation

    To satisfy the requirements for Research Dissertation students must complete courses to the value of 6 units.

    or

    two 7,000 - 8,000 word research essays chosen from any postgraduate coursework Law course each to the value of 3 units. The research essays will be an addition to any other course assessment requirement. Where a research essay is part of the course assessment, the word limit will be extended to 7,000 - 8,000 words to satisfy this requirement.
