Overview

The combined academic program of Master of Business Law / Master of Professional Accounting enables students to undertake an accountancy specialisation while also focusing on business, commercial regulation and international law.
The Master of Business Law / Master of Professional Accounting is an AQF Level 9 Masters Conversion qualification with a standard full-time duration of 2.5 years.

Academic Program Rules for Master of Business Law / Master of Professional Accounting

There shall be a Master of Business Law / Master of Professional Accounting.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the combined degree of Master of Business Law / Master of Professional Accounting, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 60 units, comprising:

  1. Core courses to the value of 18 units
  2. Elective courses to the value of 36 units
  3. Research equivalent courses to the value of 6 units in the form of a research dissertation or two research essays

    To satisfy the requirements for Core Courses students must complete courses to the value of 18 units.

  • Research Dissertation

    To satisfy the requirements for Research Dissertation students must complete courses to the value of 6 units.

    Courses to the value of up to 6 units may be taken from the following:

    two 7,000 - 8,000 word research essays chosen from any postgraduate coursework Law course each to the value of 3 units. The research essays will be an addition to any other course assessment requirement. Where a research essay is part of the course assessment, the word limit will be extended to 7,000 - 8,000 words to satisfy this requirement.
