Overview

The Bachelor of Peace and Conflict Studies will focus on the application of peace building and conflict resolution strategies in a variety of real world global contexts. Students can choose to study a major or minor in Criminology; International Development; Geography, Environment and Population; or Politics.

The Bachelor of Peace and Conflict Studies is an AQF Level 7 qualification with a standard full-time duration of 3 years.

Conditions

Condition of Enrolment
Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Program Coordinator before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

Academic Program Rules for Bachelor of Peace and Conflict Studies

There shall be a Bachelor of Peace and Conflict Studies.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the degree of Bachelor of Peace and Conflict Studies, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 72 units:
1. Core courses to the value of 21 units, including ARTS 1007 The Enquiring Mind
2. Peace and Conflict Closed Electives to the value of 15 units
3. Optional major to the value of 24 units in the following areas:
•    Criminology
•    International Development
•    Geography, Environment and Population
•    Politics
or
4. Optional minor to the value of 18 units in the following areas:
•    Criminology
•    International Development
•    Geography, Environment and Population
•    Politics
5. Elective courses to the value of up to 27 units
6. Broadening Electives to the value of up to 9 units.
