Overview

The Bachelor of Languages (Honours) is a one year program that includes advanced coursework and a research project in which students produce an extended piece of work (thesis) on a topic chosen in consultation with an academic supervisor.

The Bachelor of Languages (Honours) is an AQF Level 8 qualification with a standard full-time duration of 1 year.

Conditions

Condition of enrolment
Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Program Coordinator before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

Academic Program Rules for Bachelor of Languages (Honours)

There shall be a Bachelor of Languages (Honours).

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the degree of Bachelor of Languages (Honours), the student must complete an area of research (major) with a combined total of not less than 24 units, from the following:

  • Chinese Studies
  • French Studies
  • German Studies
  • Japanese Studies
  • Spanish Studies

Combined Honours

Combined Honours in two languages, comprising 6 units of core courses from each language and a 12 unit thesis, may also be undertaken with the approval of both language departments.

Core Courses

  • Chinese Studies Honours

    To satisfy the requirements for Chinese Studies Honours students must complete courses to the value of 24 units.

    Core Courses

    All of the following courses must be completed:

    ASIA 4001 will be a Chinese language course.
