Overview

This double degree program provides students with a thorough grounding in contemporary media and in computer science/information technology. The Media courses explore how the complex media industry is rapidly evolving under the influence of changing technologies and the different needs of societies around the world. The Computer Science offerings include a core of compulsory Computer Science courses and a range of elective options. In the third year, students have the opportunity to choose an area of computer science to specialise in. Students may develop distinctive pathways through the double degree program that allow them to develop knowledge and skills in relation to different facets of the practical and theoretical understanding of media and the design of computer-based solutions to problems of information management and processing.

The Bachelor of Media with Bachelor of Computer Science is an AQF Level 7 qualification with a standard full-time duration of
4 years.

Conditions

Condition of Enrolment
Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Program Coordinator before taking a Leave of Absence.
Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

Academic Program Rules for Bachelor of Media with Bachelor of Computer Sciences

There shall be a Bachelor of Media with Bachelor of Computer Sciences.

Qualification Requirements

A student who undertakes the Bachelor of Media with Bachelor of Computer Science may count a maximum of 24 units towards both degrees, satisfying the requirements for the two degrees with a minimum total of 96 units of study.
 
The requirement for broadening, where applicable, is waived in the double degree.
