Overview

The Bachelor of Economics (Honours) degree qualifies students to apply a body of economic knowledge to work as a professional economist or pursue further research-oriented postgraduate study. The Bachelor of Economics (Honours) requires an additional year of advanced study after an undergraduate degree program. Students are admitted on the basis of outstanding academic achievement in their undergraduate degree, normally a Bachelor of Economics. The additional year involves specialised study, research and, under the guidance of a research supervisor, the submission of a research dissertation.
The Bachelor of Economics (Honours) is an AQF Level 8 qualification with a standard full-time duration of 1year.

Academic Program Rules for Bachelor of Economics (Honours)

There shall be a Bachelor of Economics (Honours).

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the degree of Bachelor of Economics (Honours), the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following courses with a combined total of not less than 24 units, comprising:

  1. Core courses to the value of 9 units
  2. Elective courses to the value of 6 units
  3. Research equivalent courses to the value of 9 units in the form of a research dissertation.

    Research dissertation

    All of the following courses must be completed:

    Students must complete a research dissertation of not longer than 12,000 words. The dissertation must be commenced and completed within one semester.
