Overview

The program is designed to offer knowledge and skills in accounting and related fields. It will enable students possessing undergraduate degrees in non-accounting disciplines to move into careers in accounting, financial management, auditing and business advisory services in public practice, industry or government. 

The program provides the opportunity for students to develop broad based knowledge and skills essential to accounting and deeper learning through advanced elective courses.

The Master of Accounting is an AQF Level 9 Masters Conversion qualification with a standard duration of 2 years.

Conditions

Condition of Enrolment

Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Faculty before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

Academic Program Rules for Master of Accounting

There shall be a Master of Accounting.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the degree of Master of Accounting, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 48 units, comprising:

  1. Core courses to the value of 33 units
  2. Elective courses to the value of 6 units
  3. Research equivalent courses to the value of 9 units including a 6 unit research project

    To satisfy the requirements for Elective Courses students must complete courses to the value of 6 units.

    Subject to approval students may be eligible to undertake any course from the following programs:

    • Master of Applied Finance
    • Master of International Business
    • Master of Marketing
    • Master of International Trade and Development
    • Master of Applied Innovation and Entrepreneurship
    • Master of Applied Project Management

    or

    Subject to approval students may be eligible to undertake one of the following:
