Overview

The Diploma in Languages consists of studies in a single language over three years and is available to all domestic students who are enrolled in any undergraduate Bachelor degree or postgraduate studies at a recognised tertiary institution or have been awarded, or are eligible for the award of an undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution. The languages offered are available at either beginners or advanced level.

The Diploma in Languages is an AQF Level 5 qualification. The Diploma in Languages will not be conferred until the requirements for the concurrent program have been completed.

Conditions

Condition of enrolment
Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Executive Dean or delegate before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

There shall be a Diploma in Languages (DipLang).

Qualification Requirements

Academic Program

To qualify for the Diploma in Languages, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 24 units, comprising:

Major in a single language to the value of 24 units.

Chinese Studies (Beginners' Stream) Major

To satisfy the requirements for Chinese Studies (Beginners' Stream) Major students must complete courses to the value of 24 units.

6 units must be completed at Level I, 9 units at Level II and 9 units at Level III.

Level I

All of the following courses must be completed:

CHIN 1001 Chinese IA (3 units)

CHIN 1002 Chinese IB (3 units)

Level II

All of the following courses must be completed:

CHIN 2201 Chinese IIA (3 units)

CHIN 2202 Chinese IIB (3 units)
