Overview

The Master of Global Food and Agricultural Business enables students to develop the practical research, advisory and business skills necessary for careers in food and agricultural related industries. The program provides students with fundamental competencies while also allowing the flexibility to explore specific interests from value chain management or marketing to natural resource issues or agricultural policy analysis.

The Master of Global Food and Agricultural Business is an AQF Level 9 Masters Conversion qualification with a standard full-time duration of 2 years.

Condition of Enrolment

Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Faculty before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

Academic Program Rules for Master of Global Food and Agricultural Business (MGlobalFoodAgricBus)

There shall be a Master of Global Food and Agricultural Business (MGlobalFoodAgricBus).

Qualification Requirements
Academic Program

To qualify for the degree of Master of Global Food and Agricultural Business, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 48 units, comprising:

  1. Core Courses to the value of 18 units
  2. Elective Courses to the value of 18 units
  3. Research equivalent courses to the value of 12 units in the form of a Research Project.

Core Courses

To satisfy the requirements for Core Courses students must complete courses to the value of 18 units.

All of the following courses must be completed:

AGRIBUS 7054 Global Food & Agricultural Policy Analysis (3 units)

AGRIBUS 7055 Global Food and Agricultural Markets (3 units)

AGRIBUS 7057 Trends & Issues in the World Food System (3 units)

and

Courses to the value of 9 units from the following:

AGRIBUS 7053 Globalisation & Agriculture in Emerging Economies (3 units)

AGRIBUS 7060 Innovation Systems and Policy Transformation (3 units)

AGRIBUS 7056 Management and Performance of Global Food Chains (3 units)

TRADE 7005 Agriculture and Food in International Trade (3 units)

AGRIBUS 7059 Experiences and Insights in Agri-food Systems (3 units)

AGRIBUS 7064 Water Security and Governance (3 units)

Research Project

To satisfy the requirements for Research Project students must complete courses to the value of 12 units.

Students are required to take both the Part A and the matching Part B course.

AGRIBUS 7050A Research Project in Agribusiness Part 1 (0 units)

AGRIBUS 7050B Research Project in Agribusiness Part 2 (12 units)

or

AGRIBUS 7051 Research Project in Agribusiness (12 units)

or

All of the following courses must be completed:

AGRIBUS 7061 Research Project Part 1 - Research Principles & Methods (3 units)

AGRIBUS 7062A Research Project Part 2 - Theoretical Frameworks and Research Design (0 units)

AGRIBUS 7062B Research Project Part 3 - Data Gathering and Analysis (9 units)

Elective Courses

Courses to the value of 18 units from the following:
