These Program Rules should be read in conjunction with the University's policies (http://www.adelaide.edu.au/policies).

This program is designed for students wanting to focus on practical policy skill development. Students in this program will complete a Fundamentals in Public Policy core course and a course from a prescribed list.

The Professional Certificate of Public Policy is not an AQF qualification type. The minimum study period is 0.5 year, taken part-time.

Interruption of program:
Students must apply for permission from the Executive Dean or delegate before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

Academic Program Rules for Professional Certificate of Public Policy (ProfCertPubPolicy)

There shall be a Professional Certificate of Public Policy (ProfCertPubPolicy).

To qualify for the degree of Professional Certificate of Public Policy, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following courses with a combined total of not less than 6 units, comprising:
1. Core courses to a maximum of 6 units

Core Courses

To satisfy the requirements for Core Courses students must complete courses to the value of 6 units.

Core Courses

All of the following courses must be completed:

POLICY 7001 Fundamentals of Public Policy (3 units)

and

Courses to the value of up to 3 units may be taken from the following:

Students who wish to enrol in LAW 7192 Government, Law and Policy without having completed LAW 7177, or any form of equivalent introduction to law, may apply for that prerequisite to be waived. A waiver will be granted to anyone who can show previous experience with Australia’s system of law and government, or a system like it elsewhere, including through work in the government sector. Students granted such a waiver will be given access to additional study materials on the Australian legal system.
