Overview

The Graduate Diploma in Military Law will enable students to engage at an advanced level with key military law principles that are relevant to practice as a Legal Officer in the Australian Defence Force.

The Graduate Diploma in Military Law is an AQF Level 8 qualification with a standard full-time duration of 1 year.

Conditions

Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Executive Dean or delegate before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

There shall be a Graduate Diploma in Military Law (GDip Military Law).

Qualification Requirements
Academic Program

To qualify for the Graduate Diploma in Military Law, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following courses with a combined total of not less than 24 units, comprising:

Core courses to the value of 24 units

Core Courses

To satisfy the requirements for Core Courses students must complete courses to the value of 24 units.

All of the following courses must be completed:

LAW 7301OL Advanced Military Administrative Law (4.5 units)

LAW 7302OL Advanced Military Discipline Law (4.5 units)

LAW 7303OL Advanced Military Operations Law (3 units)

Courses to the value of 12 units from the following:

Where transfer credit of 12 units at the University of Adelaide is awarded for completion of all 24 units of the following courses at the Australian National University:

LAWS 8160 Military Discipline Law
LAWS 8161 Military Legal Practice
LAWS 8162 Military Operations Law
LAWS 8163 Military Administrative Law
