Overview

The Master of Education is designed for educators who wish to strengthen curriculum development, teaching areas, discipline study areas or develop areas of education such as educational leadership. It is also suitable for trainers, educational consultants or any domestic or international student wishing to study Education to teach in a higher education environment or develop their research capacity to transition into educational research. 

The Master of Education is an AQF Level 9 Masters qualification with a standard full-time duration of 2 years.

Academic Program Rules for Master of Education

There shall be a Master of Education.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the degree of Master of Education as a Conversion program, students must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 48 units.

If studying the following specialisations:

  • Educational Leadership and Innovation
  • English Language Teaching
  • Entrepreneurship Education
  • STEM Education
  • Wellbeing Education
1. Core courses to the value of 30 units
2. Specialisation courses to the value of 12 units
3. Elective courses to the value of 6 units

If studying the following specialisation:
  • Research
1. Core courses to the value of 24 units
2. Specialisation courses to the value of 18 units
3. Elective courses to the value of 6 units

To qualify for the degree of Master of Education as an Extension program, students must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 24 units.

If studying the following specialisations:
  • Educational Leadership and Innovation
  • English Language Teaching
  • Entrepreneurship Education
  • STEM Education
  • Wellbeing Education
1. Core courses to the value of 9 units
2. Specialisation courses to the value of 12 units
3. Elective course to the value of 3 units

If studying the following specialisation:
  • Research
1. Core courses to the value of 3 units
2. Specialisation courses to the value of 18 units
3. Elective course to the value of 3 units

    To satisfy the requirements for Elective Courses students must complete courses to the value of 6 units.

    Other postgraduate coursework courses deemed by the Faculty to be appropriate in Education including Mathematics, Science, Digital Technologies, Languages, History, Geography, Psychology, English, English as a Second Language, Music and Business. Prior approval is required from the Faculty.

    Courses to the value of 3 units from the following:

    If  undertaking the Extension program in one of the following specialisations:

    • Educational Leadership and Innovation
    • English Language Teaching
    • Entrepreneurship Education
    • STEM Education
    • Wellbeing Education
    • Research
