Overview
The Engineering Pathway to the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degrees provides students with the opportunity to satisfy the SACE Stage 2 prerequisites for admission to the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) awards. This pathway provides a flexible program of study in which students enrol into the SACE Stage 2 equivalent University course(s), together with electives according to their preferred discipline of specialisation.
The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) – Engineering Pathway has a maximum 24 units of study. It is compulsory that students transfer to a named Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree at the end of the pathway requirements.
Academic Program Rules for Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) - Engineering Pathway
There shall be a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) - Engineering Pathway.
Qualification Requirements
The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) – Engineering Pathway is not an award from which students can graduate. Students must transfer into one of the named Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) single, double or combined degrees at the completion of two semesters of study in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) – Engineering Pathway.
Transferring to a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Award
After the successful completion of study in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) – Engineering Pathway students will be transferred into the named Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) single, double or combined degree of their choice. Credit will be granted for completed core and elective courses that are presentable to the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) award the student is transferring to. The satisfactory completion of prerequisite equivalent courses are in addition to the normal requirements of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours). In all cases students will be advised by the Faculty of the credit to be awarded upon transfer at the time of entry and be provided with a personalised study plan. This will also be confirmed prior to transfer.
Students who have not undertaken SACE Stage 2 Specialist Mathematics (or equivalent) will be required to enrol in MATHS 1013 Mathematics IM, followed by MATHS 1101 Mathematics IA with MATHS 1102 Mathematics IB taken in Summer Semester to complete the Mathematics requirements at Level I. The satisfactory completion of Mathematics IM is in addition to the normal requirements of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours). Such students will have a maximum of 21 units credit transferred to their nominated Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Award.
Students who have not undertaken SACE Stage 2 Physics (or equivalent) will be required to enrol in PHYSICS 1101 Physics for the Life and Earth Sciences IA to meet prerequisite requirements. The satisfactory completion of and PHYSICS 1101 Physics for the Life and Earth Sciences IA is in addition to the normal requirements of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours). Such students will have a maximum of 21 units credit transferred to their nominated Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Award.
Students who have not undertaken SACE Stage 2 Chemistry (or equivalent) will be required to enrol in CHEM 1101 Foundations of Chemistry 1A and CHEM 1201 Foundations of Chemistry IB. The satisfactory completion of CHEM 1101 Foundations of Chemistry 1A and CHEM 1201 Foundations of Chemistry IB is in addition to the normal requirements of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours). Such students will have a maximum of 18 units credit transferred to their nominated Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Award.
Unless exempted, International students are required to take ENG 1011 Introduction to Engineering EAL in lieu of ENG 1001 Introduction to Engineering.
