Overview

Gain a deeper understanding of contemporary media while engaging in international relations themes including trade, governance, human rights and environmental issues. Students will study a foreign language to enhance their professional opportunities in a globalising world. In this combination of degrees, develop further skills and global understandings of digital and interactive media, writing, research and reporting, digital story-telling, radio and video production.

Conditions

Condition of enrolment
Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Executive Dean or delegate before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

Academic Program Rules for Bachelor of International Relations with Bachelor of Media

There shall be a Bachelor of International Relations with Bachelor of Media.

Qualification Requirements
Academic Program: 

To qualify for the Bachelor of International Relations with Bachelor of Media, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 96 units, comprising:

1. Bachelor of International Relations courses to the value of 48 units including;

  • 15 units of International Relations Core courses
  • 15 units of International Relations Closed Electives
  • 9 units in Language Studies
  • 9 units of electives
or
  • 18 units in Language Studies (minor) and no electives.

2. Bachelor of Media courses to the value of 48 units including;

  • 30 units of Media Core Courses including a course chosen from the Core Competency List to the value of 3 units
  • 9 units of Media Closed Electives
  • 9 units of electives

A student who undertakes the Bachelor of International Relations with Bachelor of Media may count a maximum of 24 units towards both degrees, satisfying the requirements for the two degrees with a minimum total of 96 units of study.

The requirement to complete a minor in the Bachelor of International Relations is waived in the double degree.

The requirement for broadening, where applicable, is waived in the double degree.

Core Competency Courses

To satisfy the requirements for Core Competency Courses students must complete courses to the value of 3 units.

Please note:
Students cannot cross-count the ARTS Core Competency course with any other program requirements, including program core courses, majors, minors, or elective lists.
