Overview

The Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) is an undergraduate degree option open to graduates in nursing. It is designed to introduce students to the knowledge and skills to begin to conduct research in their field of practices.
Graduates are provided with preliminary research training which will encourage continued high quality research, allowing them to continue their studies in a higher degree by research option if they gain a I or IIA Honours.
This program is designed to enable students to understand, describe and analyse varying approaches to research in nursing, to understand and critique research reports, to develop an awareness of current issues in nursing research, to conduct a research study and report on the research in a paper for publication.
The Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) is an AQF Level 8 qualification with a standard full-time duration of 1 year.

Conditions

Condition of Enrolment
Inherent requirements: Students are required to acknowledge their understanding of the University of Adelaide nursing programs inherent requirements https://health.adelaide.edu.au/study-with-us/nursing/inherent-requireme…
Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Program Coordinator or Delegate before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

 

Academic Program Rules for Bachelor of Nursing (Honours)

There shall be a Bachelor of Nursing (Honours).

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the degree of Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 24 units, comprising:

  1. Core courses to the value of 6 units
  2. Research project to the value of 18 units
The Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) comprises of two options:

Option # 1 Full time
Students must enrol into the following two courses in sequential order:
1st Semester: NURSING 4400A Honours Nursing Research Project Pt 1
2nd Semester: NURSING 4400B Honours Nursing Research Project Pt 2
 
Option # 2 Part time
Students must enrol into the following two courses in sequential order:
1st Semester: NURSING 4410A Honours Nursing Research Project (Two-Year) Continuing
2nd Semester: NURSING 4410A Honours Nursing Research Project (Two-Year) Continuing
3rd Semester: NURSING 4410A Honours Nursing Research Project (Two-Year) Continuing
4th Semester: NURSING 4410B Honours Nursing Research Project (Two-Year) Final
