Overview

The Professional Certificate in Education is designed to provide specialist training in any area of Education. Students must have qualified for a degree from the University of Adelaide or a degree from another institution accepted by the Faculty for the purpose as equivalent.

Graduates of this program will NOT be eligible for teacher registration.
The Professional Certificate in Education is not an AQF qualification type.

Conditions

Interruption of program:
Students must apply for permission from the Executive Dean or delegate before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

Academic Program Rules for Professional Certificate in Education

There shall be a Professional Certificate in Education.

Qualification Requirements
Academic Program: 

To qualify for the Professional Certificate in Education, the student must satisfactorily complete a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 6 units, comprising:

  1. Core courses to the value of 6 units or
  2. Courses to the value of 6 units from one of the Master of Education specialisations or
  3. Courses to the value of 6 units of electives or
  4. Courses to the value of 6 units from the following: Other postgraduate coursework courses deemed by the Faculty to be appropriate in Education including Mathematics, Science, Digital Technologies, Languages, History, Geography, Psychology, English, English as a Second Language, Music and Business. Prior approval is required from the Faculty.
