Overview

This is a double degree program consisting of a Bachelor of Arts with Bachelor of Music. This qualification enables students to pursue a broad range of interests in music and the arts in a self-designed, integrated academic program spanning 5 years. Consult the separate entries for the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Music degrees to obtain full details. Students in the first year of the program focus on music courses, majoring in Classical Voice, Music Composition, Music Education and Pedagogy, Classical Performance, Jazz Performance, Musicology, Popular Music, or Sonic Arts. The remaining four years combine courses from the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music programs.

The Bachelor of Arts with Bachelor of Music double degree is an AQF Level 7 qualification with a standard full-time duration of 5 years.

Conditions

Condition of Admission
Audition/interview/musicianship test: All applicants must attend and pass an audition / interview and a musicianship test (except Musicology applicants, who will be required to sit the musicianship test only). Applicants may audition for more than one instrument or major.
Deferral: Students who have deferred their program will be required to reaudition/reinterview before enrolment, where a audition/interview was a condition of admission.

Condition of Continuing Enrolment
Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Head of Undergraduate Program before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

Re-audition to enrol in performance course after a break: A student who is eligible in any year to enrol in a relevant performance course and who fails to do so, and who wishes to enrol in one of these courses in a subsequent year, will be required to re-audition and to reach a minimum standard for enrolment in the course in question before being authorised to enrol in that course.
And / Or
A student who takes leave from a performance course for one semester and is unable to show continuity of learning on their instrument may be required to re-audition on their instrument. Approval is required from the Head of Area.

Condition of Enrolment
External performances / engagements: The Head of School will determine whether students shall acknowledge the name of the School or its staff in any public performance / engagement in which they participate.

Academic Program Rules for Bachelor of Arts with Bachelor of Music

There shall be a Bachelor of Arts with Bachelor of Music.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the double degree of Bachelor of Arts with Bachelor of Music, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 120 units.
