Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy consists of elective coursework to introduce students to the broad theoretical foundation and skills of counselling / psychotherapy. It will provide an introductory pathway to training in a specific counselling / psychotherapy modality or provide training in a range of specific counselling / psychotherapy modalities to experienced counsellors.

Usually the completion of a Bachelor degree is the minimum qualification for entry to the program but other equivalent qualifications will be considered.

The Graduate Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy is an AQF Level 8 qualification with a standard full-time duration of 0.5 years.

Conditions

Condition of Enrolment
Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Program Coordinator or Delegate before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.
 

Academic Program Rules for Graduate Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy

There shall be a Graduate Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the Graduate Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined  total of not less than 12 units, comprising:

  1. Core courses to the value of 6 units.
  2. Closed electives to the value of 6 units.
