Overview

The Graduate Diploma in Military Law will enable students to engage at an advanced level with key military law principles that are relevant to practice as a Legal Officer in the Australian Defence Force.

The Graduate Diploma in Military Law is an AQF Level 8 qualification with a standard full-time duration of 1 year.

Conditions

Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Executive Dean or delegate before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

Academic Program Rules for Graduate Diploma in Military Law

There shall be a Graduate Diploma in Military Law.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the Graduate Diploma in Military Law, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 24 units, comprising:

  1. Core courses to the value of 24 units

Core Courses

  • Core Courses

    To satisfy the requirements for Core Courses students must complete courses to the value of 24 units.

    All of the following courses must be completed:

    Courses to the value of 12 units from the following:

    Where transfer credit of 12 units at the University of Adelaide is awarded for completion of all 24 units of the following courses at the Australian National University:

    LAWS 8160 Military Discipline Law
    LAWS 8161 Military Legal Practice
    LAWS 8162 Military Operations Law
    LAWS 8163 Military Administrative Law
