Overview

The Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences (Honours) is open to suitably qualified students who wish to undertake further studies in their specialisation.

The Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences (Honours) is an AQF Level 8 qualification with a standard full-time duration of 1 year.

 

Conditions

Condition of Enrolment

Immunisation: Prior to any clinical placement, students will need to provide evidence of immunisation status. Students are required to have the appropriate level of immunisation required by the Immunisation Guidelines for Health Care Workers in South Australia Policy Guideline for tuberculosis (TB) screening and criminal history clearances (CHC), Prescribed Communicable Infections (PCI) screening, including recommendations for COVID-19 vaccines.

Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Program Coordinator or Delegate before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

Academic Program Rules for Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences (Honours)

There shall be a Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences (Honours).

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the degree of Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences (Honours), a student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 24 units, comprising:

  1. One major to the value of 24 units from the following:
  • Biomedicine
  • Medical
  • Public Health
The Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences (Honours) comprises two options:

Option # 1 Full time study
Full time students must enrol into the matching Research Project Part 1 and Part 2 courses of their chosen major in sequential order.
For example:
1st Semester: HLTH SC 4500A Honours Biomedicine Research Project Part A 
2nd Semester: HLTH SC 4500B Honours Biomedicine Research Project Part B


Option # 2 Part time study
Part time students must enrol into the matching Research Project of their chosen major in sequential order.
For example:
1st Semester: HLTH SC 4510A Honours Biomedicine Research Project Part 1
2nd Semester: HLTH SC 4510B Honours Biomedicine Research Project Part 2
3rd Semester: HLTH SC 4510C Honours Biomedicine Research Project Part 3
4th Semester: HLTH SC 4510D Honours Biomedicine Research Project Part 4
