Overview
The Master of Medical Radiation Physics provides students that have a minimal physics background with the advanced theoretical knowledge and technical expertise knowledge required to work in medical radiation physics. Students will develop their background in condensed matter physics, experimental physics, optics and photonics, modelling, Fourier techniques and applications, and nuclear and radiation physics while having the opportunity to complete the coursework required by the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) for accreditation. Students will also complete a major research project in medical physics. The Master of Medical Radiation Physics is an AQF Level 9 qualification with a standard duration of 2 years.
Conditions
Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Executive Dean or delegate before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.
Academic Program Rules for Master of Medical Radiation Physics
There shall be a Master of Medical Radiation Physics.
Qualification Requirements
To qualify for the degree of Master of Medical Radiation Physics, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 48 units, comprising:
1. Core courses to the value of 30 units
2. Electives to the value of 6 units
3. Research Project to the value of 12 units
