Overview

This program will provide students with an introduction to big data analytics, decision science and their application within a chosen context or discipline (such as Agriculture, Bioinformatics, Economics, Environment, Geosciences, Public Health). They will learn broad practical skills and knowledge that can be used in roles that require some communication and application of data  analytics to decision-making processes in a discipline-specific context. Students learn about big data analytics in a transdisciplinary setting that focuses on data literacy, ethical data management, and data analysis. The  successful completion of this program is a pathway to the Bachelor of Applied Data Analytics.

The Undergraduate Certificate in Applied Data Analytics is an AQF Level 5 program with a standard full-time duration of 6 months.

Conditions

On current TEQSA advice, students must complete the qualification by 2025.

Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Executive Dean or delegate before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program  subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

Academic Program Rules for Undergraduate Certificate in Applied Data Analytics

There shall be a Undergraduate Certificate in Applied Data Analytics.

Qualification Requirements
Academic Program: 

To qualify for the degree of Undergraduate Certificate in Applied Data Analytics, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 12 units:
1. Core courses in Applied Data Analytics to the value of 9 units
2. Elective courses in a chosen discipline to the value of 3 units

To satisfy the requirements for Core Courses students must complete courses to the value of 9 units.
