Overview

The Undergraduate Certificate in Data Science is suitable for students from diverse backgrounds who wish to develop new skills in the growing area of data science. It provides a pathway, and advanced standing, to further learning in either the Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Mathematical and Computer Sciences or Bachelor of Information Technology. It is also a stand-alone qualification of broad applicability in today’s workplace.

In this program, students will undertake four core courses designed to provide skills and knowledge in computer science, mathematics, data science and data analysis.

The Undergraduate Certificate in Data Science has a standard full-time duration of 0.5 years.

Conditions

On current TEQSA advice, students must complete the qualification by 2025.
 

Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Faculty before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

Academic Program Rules for Undergraduate Certificate in Data Science

There shall be a Undergraduate Certificate in Data Science.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the degree of Undergraduate Certificate in Data Science, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following courses with a combined total of not less than 12 units, comprising:
