Overview

The Master of Landscape Architecture is a professionally accredited program which will enable graduates to apply for registration and practice as Landscape Architects. The program is intended to develop professional and creative abilities in the context of contemporary theory and practice in Landscape Architecture.

The Master of Landscape Architecture is an AQF Level 9 Masters qualification with a standard full-time duration of 2 years.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate understanding of an advanced body of landscape architectural knowledge, in its social, economic, environmental and cultural context.
  2. Demonstrate a high level of digital, graphic, textual, technical and research skills relevant to the discipline of landscape architecture.
  3. Demonstrate an ability to seek and critically apply a range of scientific and cultural information including structural, material, theoretical and historical knowledge to the assessment and design of landscape architectural projects.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of the scope of professional landscape architectural practice including interdisciplinary and ethical considerations.
  5. Through design, apply skills and knowledge to resolve complex landscape architecture propositions.

Conditions

Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Faculty before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

Program Maximum Duration: As specified in Table 1 of the Coursework Academic Programs Policy, this program must be completed within a Maximum Duration which includes any periods of non-enrolment, leave of absence or approved study at other institutions for credit towards a Program. 

Academic Program Rules for Master of Landscape Architecture

There shall be a Master of Landscape Architecture.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the degree of Master of Landscape Architecture, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 48 units, comprising:

  1. Students shall pass courses to the value of at least 24 units at each stage
  2. Core courses to the value of 33 units
  3. Research equivalent courses to the value of 12 units in the form of a research project or research dissertation
  4. Elective courses to the value of 3 units

    To satisfy the requirements for Elective Courses students must complete courses to the value of 3 units.
