Overview

The Master of Technology Innovation and Leadership is designed to provide a comprehensive, up-to-date understanding of concepts, techniques and professional applications in technology innovation and leadership to graduates of various disciplines.

The Master of Technology Innovation and Leadership is an AQF Level 9 Masters qualification with a standard full-time duration of 2 years. Students may be eligible to complete the program in a full-time standard duration of 1.5 years on the basis of prior learning.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Critically analyse, reflect on and synthesise technological market, economic, business and environmental data to improve the management and leadership of technological innovation.
  2. Describe to specialist and non-specialist audiences, emerging technologies within a specific technical domain and their potential to address industry needs.
  3. Plan, lead and communicate technological innovation that is respectful of ethical, social, cultural and environmental issues and concerns.
  4. Design and conduct self-directed academic or applied research that harness technological innovation to support and encourage enterprising and/or creative human endeavor.

Conditions

Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Faculty before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.

Program Maximum Duration: As specified in Table 1 of the Coursework Academic Programs Policy, this program must be completed within a Maximum Duration which includes any periods of non-enrolment, leave of absence or approved study at other institutions for credit towards a Program. 
 

Academic Program Rules for Master of Technology Innovation and Leadership

There shall be a Master of Technology Innovation and Leadership.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for the degree of Master of Technology Innovation and Leadership, students must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 48 units, comprising:

  • Core Courses to the value of 12 units.
  • Entrepreneurship/Business Closed Electives to the value of 12 units.
  • Technology Closed Electives to the value of 12 units.
  • Research courses to the value of 9 units. If studying a PhD pathway, research courses to the value of 12 units.
  • Elective to the value of 3 units. This is not required if studying a PhD pathway.
