Overview
Project management is a cross-disciplinary field that is vital for innovative activity in organisations and industries. Traditionally, project management has played an important role in defence, aerospace, construction and engineering. Increasingly, project management is being applied in areas such as IT, banking and finance, disaster relief recovery, climate change, telecommunications and mining.
The Graduate Certificate in Applied Project Management is an AQF Level 8 qualification with a standard full-time duration of 0.5 years.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Identify the project management body of knowledge (PMBOK), complex (including autonomous and independent systems) and complicated (linear) projects, including complex systems paradigms.
- Recognise theories related to project management methodologies.
- Communicate theoretical propositions, methodologies, and conclusions.
- Collaborate with other project stakeholders to evaluate project solutions.
- Evaluate substantial research on topics of high relevance to project management.
- Recognise effective leadership within a project management context.
Conditions
Condition of Admission:
For applicants without an undergraduate degree at least 7 years of work experience supported by a portfolio of evidence will be required.
Conditions of Enrolment:
Interruption of program: Students must apply for permission from the Faculty before taking a Leave of Absence. Any extension of the leave without approval will result in the loss of place in the program but an application may be made to be re-admitted to the program subject to the admission procedures in place at the time.
Program Maximum Duration: As specified in Table 1 of the Coursework Academic Programs Policy, this program must be completed within a Maximum Duration which includes any periods of non-enrolment, leave of absence or approved study at other institutions for credit towards a Program.
Academic Program Rules for Graduate Certificate in Project Management
There shall be a Graduate Certificate in Project Management.
Qualification Requirements
To qualify for the Graduate Certificate in Applied Project Management, the student must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 12 units, comprising:
